Genesis 20:2 I can't believe he pulled the sister card again.
But wait! (Cue dramatic music; told you this would have made a great TV series!) They really ARE brother and sister....sort of. Soap operas today got nothin on this stuff...and this has the added bonus of being the inspired Word of God!
Abraham and Sarah both did their share of goofing up, yet God never broke his covenant with Abraham. This is a great encouragement for me whenever I feel I've blown it...God's promises to me are all through the Bible, and He will never break His promises! I can choose to walk away from Him, but He won't ever cast me, or any of you guys aside. Catchphrase: How cool is that???
Matthew 6:19 We all know this one: Where your treasure is.... I had to consider that one today. What is my heart wrapped up in? Where are my priorities?
6:25 Just as God tells us not to be afraid, He tells us not to worry. A lot of us think we have good reason to worry; financially, emotionally, relationship-wise...but He's got it all covered. We just need to do what's right and keep our eyes on Him. Simple in theory; difficult in practice. I'm glad we're in this race we're running together. :-)
Once again Abraham is up to his old tricks lying! He is not trusting God to protect he and his wife. But GOD! Don't just love it. It is God who protect Sarah by speaking to the King before he sins against her and God. God is able. Remember, when you feel like you are the innocent victim, it is God who will do battle for you just as He did for Sarah.
Matthew 6:33
"Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
Now that doesn't sound hard. So why is it I find myself doing other things first? Lord, help me not to get distracted and worried about many things, but help me and all my brothers and sister in the Lord to not only remember this promise, but for us to live it. May we seek you FIRST!
