Ex 7:11 I have been curious as to why Pharaoh's magicians could perform some of the same signs Moses & Aaron could. An unbeliever once asked me about this and I told them that lots of people involved in the occult can do "spells" and get "results" and the power all comes from an evil place, but honestly, I didn't know. Again, it's one of those things that doesn't affect my salvation, but another area I'd like more clarity in. Obviously M & A were more powerful as their power came from God. Of course, the same person tried emphatically to convince me that the plague of blood was red tide, and for some reason I found that pretty hard to believe. If the Bible says it was blood, I figure it was blood. I also have no idea why the sorcerers worked their magic duplicating the plagues. Seems like they would have been better off trying to counteract them, or inventing some mega repellent or something. Who knows what they were thinking? At any rate, by v 19 they finally caught on that this was something major...
We still have the "Twelve Plagues Coloring Book" you guys provided for Renee. It's the first coloring book I've ever seen with such a title.....love it.
Matthew 15:8-9 Oooh, this stings a little. Sound like anyone you know? Yeah, me too. So instead of judging them and pointing fingers, let's go to them and lovingly point them to a relationship with Jesus Christ. I know, it's easier to remain uninvolved and just shake our heads at them, cuz after all, we're the real Christians. God must love us best cuz we're like really sincere, right? We can't have that attitude. I'm talking to me again here.
V 11 Reminded me to not talk today. :-) Well, I have to; I've got patients, but today I'm going to be really mindful of what I say, as I should everyday.
V 19: "You've gotta follow your heart, Chris. You've gotta be true to yourself." Gag me. How selfish is that? Christ says to put others first. If I'd "followed my heart" and been "true to myself" and "made myself happy" I would have taken the opportunity I had about 2 years ago and would be living "where I want to be" in another state, probably working in a health food store for minimum wage (not that there's anything wrong with that!) separated from my kids and probably kicking myself everyday for making the same mistakes my mother did. Praise the Lord I listened to Him and NOT to my heart! Look what it says comes out of the heart; it's not good....it's ugly, nasty stuff. Instead of listening to our heart, we need to make it a home for the Holy Spirit, let Him help us clean it up, and invite Him to abide there continually. That, my friends, is the best way to guard our hearts, not in our own strength.
I hope you all had a wonderful time in St Pete and that someone brought me back a t-shirt or a keychain or something.
