Exodus 14-15 I gotta tell ya, I guess I have more of a viva la revolution! attitude about the exodus than the Children of Israel did. I personally would have rather died trying to escape than continue with my children in the conditions they were kept under in Egypt, but it says the COI grumbled that they would rather have stayed.
14:14 This verse is so reassuring to me: "The Lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace." The term for hold your peace literally means "be quiet." I need to keep remembering this. Isiah 30:15 says "In returning and in rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength." I am in a situation right now where this verse is a lifeline for me. So often we want to take action, fight for ourselves, use our words, tell others, "Guys, I'm hurting, and this is why and it's not fair!", to prove that we're right. We (I) need to rest in the Lord, be quiet and confident that He sees me, and the battle is His.
14:19 Is the Angel of God the Holy Spirit, or Jesus? I mean, I know they're a trinity and all, but Isiah 63:9 makes mention of the Angel of the Lord's presence, and there was that whole Angel that Jacob wrestled with thing....so is this another way of saying Christ or the Holy Spirit?
15:21 See? Mariam knew knew about some expressive worship!
Matthew 17:7 Again Jesus says, "Do not be afraid." OK, Lord. I hear You.
17:11-13 Does this mean that John the Baptist literally was Elijah returned? This confused me, because it sounded like reincarnation, and I know we're not down with that. Help???
V 20: I sometimes wonder what we miss because of unbelief.
V 21 reminds us that sometimes drastic measures are called for. This was a wake-up to me. There are times we need to fast and really get on our faces before the Lord and earnestly seek His will, no-holds-barred, not just a tossed-out "Show me, God, please?" as I tend to do often.
OK, I'm out. What a beautiful day; much too nice to spend inside!
